He was predeceased by: his parents, William Godwin and Betty Godwin; and his son Clarke Godwin. He is survived by: his wife Pat Godwin; his children, Jenny Byrom (Tyler) and Brian Godwin (Kristin); his siblings, Sibyl Taylor (Frank) and Rick Godwin (Sheana); and his grandchildren, Jack Hall, Evelyn Godwin, Olivia Godwin, Violet Godwin and Bo Byrom.
