He is survived by: his wife Ruby Hester of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his children, Danny Hester (Shirley) of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Marsha Messick (Brett); his siblings, Wanda Hopkins and Vernon Hester; and his grandchildren, Chris Hester (Kimberly), Kim Hoell (Stephen), Hollie Alexander (Joe), John Creekmore, Nakisha Ellison (Jimmy) and Jennifer Carner (Adam). He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
