As Richard departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Richard. Though Richard may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Nelson and Garnett Nelson; his wife Shirley Valentine Nelson; his sister Dorothy Staires; and his granddaughter Shauna Larkin.
He is survived by: his children, Tammy Nelson Larkin (Dale Larkin) and Ricky Nelson (Allyson Nelson); and his siblings, Kenny Nelson and Carol Ferguson. He is also survived by three grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bixby Funeral Service (13307 S Memorial Dr, Bixby, OK 74008). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens (6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012).
