He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Copeland and Mary Frances Copeland (Smith); his brother Curtis Lee Copeland; his sister-in-law Rebecca Knight Copeland; and his aunts and uncles, Jay Robey, Mary Pearl Smith, Jack, Mary Tommye Smith, Katherine, Jim Curtis, Jeff, Doris Copeland, Jane and Bill Cleage.

He is survived by: his wife Dee; his sons, Smith Allen and Davis Young; his brother Robert, Jr. of Plainview, Texas; his nephew Zachary Young Copeland; his aunt Kathleen Trautman (Richard) of Belton, Texas; and his great-nephews, Braxton James Philpott and Ryker Dale Philpott. He is also survived by 3 nieces.
