With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Vern Leon Nickens of Tulsa, Oklahoma, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 10, 2026 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Nickens and Goldie Nickens; his children, Ronnie Lee Nickens and Pamela Denise Nickens; and his sisters, Maxine Hughes, Patricia Price, Kathryn Nickens and Carolyn "Nickie" Embly.
He is survived by: his daughter Sherry Nickens Strong (Gary Thompson) of Tulsa; his granddaughters, Colette Olivia Strong of Winter Park and Anissa Riley of Austin; his sister Beverly Jones of Oklahoma City; and his friend Peggy McDevitt. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
