He was predeceased by: his father Jewel H. Brooks; his stepfather BJ Henzler; and his mother Rose Ann Henzler (Sturm). He is survived by: his children, Tammy Ballard (Stormy), Jewel Brooks (Amy) and Clayton Brooks; his grandchildren, Brooklynn, Allison Ballard and Ambre Brooks; his brothers, Curtis Brooks (Annette), Phillip Brooks, Bill Henzler and Stephen Henzler (Carrie); and his siblings' children, Lauren, Adam, Matthew and Jess.
