He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward II and Jeanne Markel (Jewitt); his daughter Jessica Markel of Bartlesville; and his brothers, Jim Markel of Chapel, Nebraska and Mike Markel of Alaska.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Markel; his son Matt Markel (Amanda) of Colorado; and his brothers, Dan Markel (Linda) of Nebraska, Steve Markel (Jenny) of Colorado and Bill Markel (Sharon) of Colorado. He is also survived by five grandsons.
