With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Cynthia L. Upchego Bates of Watonga, Oklahoma, born in Fort Duchesne, Utah, who passed away on April 24, 2024 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Henry Upchego and Elaine Wanzitz Upchego (Wanzitz); and her siblings, Amelia Upchego Collins, Theron Wyasket, Theodore Wyasket and Florence Wanzitz.

She is survived by : her children, Waylan Upchego (Nikole) of Geary, OK, Leslie Bates of Watonga, OK and Melvin Bates, Jr. (Marilyn) of Watonga, OK; her grandchildren, Jaycie Owings, Randi Upchego, Brooklyn Upchego, Lea Peck of Emma Marcos, O. J, Birdshead, Christian Castleberry, Harper Berry, Sonny Gunner Bates, Leslie Bates, Jr., Cory Bryant Tyson Bates and Melvin Daniel Bates, III; and her siblings, Angelita Chegup of Neola, UT, Ansel Chegup and Feron Wyasket (Jolene) of Arcadia, UT. She is also survived by her 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A wake was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the All Tribes Baptist Church (205 S Aurora Ave, Geary, OK 73040). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at 1000 E Russworm Dr, Watonga, OK 73772.
