He was predeceased by: his parents, Penn Hamar and Evelyn Hamar (Gore); his wife Vida; his in-laws, Gib and Lillie Mae Marquart; his brothers-in-law, Daniel Barron and Jerry Marquart; and his close friend Arlan Steers.
He is survived by: his children, Pendra Cook (Terry) of Hydro and Lanny Hamar of Hydro; his grandson Kason Penn Cook (Macey); his great grandchild Collins Grace Cook of Tryon; his sisters, Ruth Ann Barron of Taloga and Iva Phillips (Bill) of Sharon; his sisters-in-law, Wydon Warren (Troy) of Nixa, MO and Karla Marquart of Duke; and his close friends, Cathy Meyer, Helena and Ellen Steers of Taloga.
