She is survived by: her husband Clifford Hughes; her daughters, Sandra (Kent McKinley) and Tammy (Rodney Bellamy); her grandchildren, Carrie (Cory Cole), Kelby McKinley (Brittani Manire) and Paisley (Michael Bellamy); her great grandchildren, Caden of Sulphur, OK, Carter of Sulphur, OK, Casten Cole of Sulphur, OK, Britton of Sulphur, OK, Braxon of Sulphur, OK, Brittlee McKinley of Sulphur, OK and Theodore Bellamy; and her siblings, Virgie Thompson of Ft Worth, TX and Duane Lawson (Curly) of Odessa, TX..
The only things that ever caused the rink to close was the State High School Football Championship game of 2002 when the Sulphur Bulldogs won and COVID-19. After the safety of COVID-19 could be managed, Skate World reopened for a short time before Gayle had an aneurysm while she was working in her garden, on July 28, 2023.
