He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman "Brick" Kaufmann and Ora Kaufmann Cornelius; his brothers, Roy Kaufmann and Larry Kaufmann; and his daughter Pamela Kaufmann.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Kaufmann; his children, Rhonda Yother, Tanya Eskeli (James Eskeli), Carol Santoyo (Tereso Santoyo), Kim Jackson (Justin Jackson) and Dale Kaufmann (Janet Kaufmann); and his sister Joann Henness. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
