He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Kalle Tila and Elli Tila (Grontal); his spouse Pirkko Esteri Huusela; his son Markku Tila; his daughter-in-law Michele Tila of Astoria; his daughter Marja-Leena; his son-in-law Dan Casey of Scottsdale, Arizona; his grandchildren, Niina Tila of Seaside, Niko Tila of San Diego, Eliisa and Tiia Casey of Phoenix, Arizona; his great grandchild Rhett John Hutson; his sister Irja Kanko (Finland) of Helsinki; and his nieces and nephews, Finland and Sweden.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Peace First Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
