She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard "Redtune" Elva and Celestial Irene Speir (Williams); her husband Jerrell V. Strait; and her siblings, Richard Speir and Ella Noreen Colson (Speir).

She is survived by: her children, Mark, Jerrilyn (Paul) and Stacie; and her grandchildren, Parker (Joryn), Graham and Garrett.
