He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Updike and Vera Updike (Arnell); his grandson Curtis; his siblings, Keith Updike and Jeanette Wilson; his brother-in-law Earl Thompson; and his granddaughter Jessica Chambers.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hardisty; his children, Ron, Greg (Gina Chambers), Brent (Donna Chambers), David (Carla Updike), Angela (David Williams) and Curtis (Amy Updike); and his sister Beth Thompson of Forest Grove. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
