He was predeceased by: his father Dean Calhoon (Dean Calhoon); and his nephew John Calhoon. He is survived by: his son Benjamin Robinson; his birth mother Balbina Mendoza; his uncles, Leo (Zulema), Robert (Maggie), Jesus and Santos; his aunt Chavela; and his siblings, Bridgette, Deano, Jose, Christina, Amy, Alejandro and Alfredo.
After numerous tests and doctor visits, Luis received the early onset Alzheimer's diagnosis in the fall of 2023.
