He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Piatz and Rose Piatz (Gross); his wife Carol Wachter; and his sisters, Leonora Beyer and Marilyn Seiler.

He is survived by : his daughters, Judy Carbone (Steve) of Indianapolis, Carolyn Connolly (Terry) of Tigard and Ruth Wehby (Philip) of Nashville; his grandchildren, Sarah, Abigail, Joseph, Maggie, Rachael Wehby and Mary Grace Connolly; and his siblings-in-law, Fritz Beyer of Salem and Judith Lujan of San Francisco. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Francis and Carol Piatz Scholarship to benefit the future education of a graduating senior at John F. Kennedy High School.
