He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Alice Shell (Jan Shell) and Logan Shell; his son David Shell; his daughter-in-law Alicia Shell; and his granddaughter Elizabeth Shell.

He is survived by: his children, John Shell, Kathy Clarich (Kevin) and Charlie Shell. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
