He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest F. Swartz and Wanda Swartz (Baugher); and his sister Karene (Zimmerman). He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughters, Lori Swartz Eberly and Katie Furia (Joe); his grandchildren, Sellah Eberly, Rohnan Eberly and Parker Furia; his siblings, Jane Keener (John VanOsdol), Helen Mast (Larry), Sharon Maust and Stan (Ann); and his brother-in-law Mark Zimmerman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon, an organization that reflects and protects his love of the natural world.
