She was predeceased by : her parents, Ezra James and Goldie Jenny Shaw (Carlson); her sisters, Ruth Henderson, Doris Hanson, Ella Lashbaugh and Elaine Tate; and her grandson Kyle Burford.

She is survived by : her husband Melvin Baird Emerson; her children, Cindy Burford (Dan), Kathy Bonney (Jeff), Terri Van Meter and Scott Emerson (Kammie); and her grandchildren, Anna, Stefanie, Jared, Jeramy, Kendra, Heather, Valorie, Megan, Kayla Nicole, Shane, Kayla Marie and Alyssa. She is also survived by her 27 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (10300 SE 132nd Ave, Happy Valley, OR 97086). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Skyline Memorial Gardens (4101 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland, OR 97229).

Donations in her memory can be made to Doernbecher Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
