She was predeceased by: her mother Georgiana Helms. She is survived by: her father James Helms, Jr.; her sisters, Georgiana Hatch and Mary Grey (James Bean); and her children, Meghan Rigg Bean (Jonathan Rigg) and James Bean (Pia Faxon). She is also survived by three granddaughters.
Margaret was awarded the Solari Library Faculty Fellowship in 2016 for her outstanding contributions to the University of Oregon library system.
