She was predeceased by: her parents, Virginia Markham and Charles Markham; her husband Gary Smith; her grandparents, Fredrick Kramb, Mildred Kramb, Walter and Bertha Markham; and her aunts, Louisa and Mary.

She is survived by: her daughter Jennifer Warner (Shane); her grandchildren, Cora and Miles; her stepdaughter Courtney Romeo (Joey); her stepgrandchildren, Kristie, Caitlyn, Jessica and Joseph; her great grandchild Adalynne; her siblings, Edward Markham, Charles Markham Jr. and Lucinda Markham; and her nephews, Lonnie Markham and John Markham (Danielle).

Following Gary's unexpected passing in 2019, and after a period of soul-searching during the pandemic, Susan relocated to the Portland, Oregon area in 2022 to be near her daughter and family.
