She was predeceased by: her parents, Kogen Yakabi and Tae Yakabi; and her grandson Jack Miller. She is survived by: her husband Frederic S. Newman Jr.; her children, Karen Sims of Salem, OR, Kristine Mackessy (Gregory) of Chelmsford, MA, Katherine Miller (Anthony) of Chelmsford, MA and Paul Newman (Rachel) of Haslet, TX; her grandchildren, Alexandria Sims, Liam, Kai Mackessy, Henry, Samuel Miller, Kylie and Stella Newman; and her siblings, Michiko and Kiniko.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home (134 Missouri Ave S, Salem, OR 97302).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hiroko's honor to the South Salem Senior Center, PO Box 3094, Salem, OR 97302.
