He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Tegen and LaVonne Tegen (Andrews); his wife Minda O'Neil; and his brother-in-law Curt Shurtz. He is survived by: his siblings, Terry Tegen (Angie) of Phoenix, Arizona and Pam Shurtz of Independence, Iowa; his nephew Jeff (Tammy) of Phoenix, Arizona; his nieces, Julie Beck (Eli) of Center Point and Laurie Wieseler (Mike) of Ankeny, Iowa.; and his stepchildren, Michelle, Kimberly O'Neil and Donald.
