He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Fields and Elzie Fields (Linville); his wife Joyce Fields; his daughter Kathy Summers; and his siblings, Eugene, R. L. Fields, Laura Perkins, Martha McAlester, Mary Box, Patricia Roberts and Linda Jones.

He is survived by: his sons, J. C. James of Sweet Home, Dennis Fields of Albany and Junior Fields of Rattan, Okla.; and his grandson Eddie Goodwin of Lebanon. He is also survived by grandsons; seven granddaughters, and a host of great grandchildren.
