It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karen Hanson in Woodburn, Oregon, who passed away on October 28, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Karen is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Karen's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rita Theresa Gehlen and John Peter "Pete" Mertz; and her brother Robert "Bob" Allen Mertz. She is survived by: her sons, Michael James Hanson and Scott Lee Hanson; her nieces, Kathy and Carol Hendricks; and her grandchildren, Ashley Huffman, Kassandra Hanson, Andrew Hanson, David Hanson, Michael Edwin Hanson and Allie Hanson. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
