He was predeceased by: his mother Virginia Mae Black. He is survived by: his wife Karlene; and his children, Patricia Spencer (Tony), Celena Mingo Black, Henrietta Polk, Elisha Boyd, Ernest Black Jr., MichaelJohn Bassham (Heather), Thomas Black, Marlon Grant and Philip Green. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Greater Faith (391 Edison Ave, Buffalo, NY 14215). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. He taught the Save to Serve Class, served on the Board of Directors and the Deacon Board, and was a Chaplain at the Attic Prison, where he and other saints would go once a month to teach the men up until Covid.
