He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbert Nickel and Erma Nickel (Jewell); his former life partner Mary Jane; his son William; his brother Larry; and his sister-in-law Elaine.

He is survived by : his children, Ronald (Deborah), John and Lori (Lawrence); his grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel), Cari (Matthew), Emmy (John), Patrick (Brandie) and Charles; his great grandchildren, Wilson, Grace, Woodrow, Claire, Jack, Nolan and Kenneth; his stepchildren, Kevin (Sharon), Kim (Rick), Kelly (Mike), Kerry (Steve), Kristen (Scott), Karen (Tim) and Kathleen (John); and his siblings, Eileen (Gordon), William (Patricia) and Tom (Joanne). He is also survived by eight step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Clark Trinity United Methodist Church in memory of Russell.
