He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Scanlan and Valeria Katherine Rothermel-Scanlan; his wife Mary Jo Scanlan; and his brother-in-law Ren Jenkins Sr.. He is survived by: his sister Helen Jenkins; his girlfriend Helen "Honey"; his children, Jennifer Scanlan Hazelton (Bryan) and Joseph D. Scanlan Jr. (Dawn); his grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Jessica Hazelton-Higgins (Dustin), Jordan Hazelton, Kaitlynn, Sarah Scanlan and Lewis (John Sr.); and his great grandchildren, Jackson, Dax, Jameson, John Jr., Declan and Olivia. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Believe Stroke Recovery Organization and Alzheimer's Association in Joe's memory.
