He was predeceased by: his father William H. Stein, Sr.; his son Joel Brandon Stein; and his brother Mark Stein. He is survived by: his mother Elizabeth Stein (Vierling); his wife Virginia Stein (Spellings); his children, Scott Stein, Christopher Stein (Heather) and Amber Schell (Chad); his grandchildren, Ashton Stein, Dylan Schell (Katrina), Summer Elliot (Jared), Braeden Stein (Kalena), Andrew Stein, Gabrielle Schell, Alyssa Stein and Tessa Landvick (McGwire); his great grandchildren, Sophia Stein, Nylah Schell, Charlotte Stein and Freya Stein; and his siblings, Bill Stein, Greg Stein, Lawrence Stein, Michael Stein, Mary Starost, Cheryl Bitterman and Melissa Bradley.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A Mass was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Louis Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Heart Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or the Wounded Warrior Project. Keep Thomas A. Stein's legacy alive by donating to a charity in need.
