We are sad to announce that on May 1, 2025, at the age of 83, Gary M. Townsend (Apollo, Pennsylvania) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton M. Townsend and Mabel L. Townsend (Watterson); and his sisters, Thelma Slobodzian and Karen Townsend. He is survived by: his wife Helen J. Townsend (Schrecengost); his children, Suzanne L. Soufan of Ohio, Sonya Ricketts (Thomas) of Arlington, VA, Jason W. Townsend (Ginger) and David E. Gearhart (Holly) of Spring Church; his siblings, Mary L. Townsend of Spring Church, Doris A. Townsend of South Bend, Burton W. Townsend (Betty) and Edward T. Townsend (Carol) of South Bend; his grandchildren, Laura Hartzell (Joey), Jacob Townsend, Lauren Bowser, Noah Gearhart, Michael Bowser, Ashlyn Townsend, Keira Ricketts, Colton Gearhart, Isabella Ricketts and Gabriella Ricketts; his great grandchild Xayah Hartzell; and his friend Smokey. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Gary's name to the 4-H Organization.
