He is survived by: his wife Antoinette R. Amato; his children, John Amato (Lori) and Regina Amato Scheller; and his grandchildren, Joseph M. Scheller Jr. (Amanda), Maria Giovanna Scheller, John V. Amato (Krista), Emelia Burkhart (Charlie), Sarah E. Amato and Grace Abbott Amato. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
