He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Deans-Schaub; his children, Lisa (Monte Grossman), Cannon and Christian (Alexander Matthews); and his caregiver Alex.

With his law degree from Yale Law School, in 1955 Schaub joined the Philadelphia firm of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads where he was a "Lifer" until his retirement from legal practice in 1999, when he continued to go to his office at MMWR daily until the Covid pandemic.
