He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Maurer and Dora Kessler Maurer; and his siblings, Alma Barnhart, Hazel Minnich, Lottie Bossler, Warren, Elmer, Alvin, Ralph, Harry, Harold "Penrose" and John Maurer.

He is survived by : his wife Deloris Kimmel Maurer; his children, Donna Amonett, Elwood Maurer (Wanda), Duane Maurer (Janice), Anthony Maurer (Kristi) and Keith DeTemple (Victoria); his brother Earl Maurer (Gladys); and his grandchildren, Kyle Maurer (Alyssa), Ryan Maurer, Emma Jane Maurer and Kristopher Maurer (Brianna).

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Barry Salem United Methodist Church (837 Deep Creek Rd, Ashland, PA 17921). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
