He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginio Mattia and Giulia Mattia (Megaro); his siblings, Vincent, Michael, Edward, V. Thomas, Mario and Rosemary Mattia DeFalco; and his grandson Robert Mattia.

He is survived by: his wife Norma Mattia; his children, Richard M. Mattia (Maureen Gartland), David Mattia (Kathy) and Virginia Manzi (Matt); his sister Gilda Everts; his sister-in-law Lucy Mattia; and his grandchildren, Leanne, Julia, Alexis, Matthew and Gianna.
