With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melissa Jo VanNess of Athens, Pennsylvania, who passed away on April 24, 2025 at the age of 55. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dennis VanNess and Susie Walburn VanNess; her grandmother Leona VanNess; and her nephew Chad Michael Stone Gillie. She is survived by: her siblings, James VanNess and Brandee; her brother-in-law Tim Gillie; her nieces and nephews, Katie Stone (Zack Noyes), Chris Stone (Kristen), Cody Stone (Ally Chapman), James VanNess II (Loretta Dennis) and Alexus VanNess; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Braxton Stone, Keisha Stone, Lucas Stone, Savannah Stone, Kaydon Dimm, Arya Whelch, Peyton VanNess, Brittany Permenter, Piper Gillie and Austraila Gillie.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main Street, Athens, PA 18810 to help the family with her final expenses.
