He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis S. Buckwalter and Kathryn E. Buckwalter (Burgents); his brother David Buckwalter Sr.; his son Mark Buckwalter; and his stepgrandson Christopher Brown.

He is survived by: his spouse Gail Buckwalter; his daughter Amy Buckwalter Kasopsky (Adam); his grandsons, Matthew and James Kasopsky; his stepchild Nneka Williams; his stepgrandchildren, Anaya Coleman and Mihayla Lopez; his nephews, David Jr. (Elise), Gary (Carrie) and Todd Buckwalter (Cindy); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lauren, Caryn and David.

A committal service was held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery (830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940).
