She was predeceased by : her father Richard Shipley of Conway, PA; and her parents-in-law, Albert and Florence Totera of Freedom, PA.. She is survived by : her husband James A. Totera; her children, Christian Totera (Alyssa) of Pittsburgh, PA and Claudia Totera of Charlotte, NC.; her mother Beatrice Meneilly Shipley; her siblings, Lynn Daugherty (Daniel), Jeanne Johnston (David) and Richard Shipley (Amy); her sister-in-law Maryann Divito (Jimmy); her grandchildren, Luca and Mila Totera; and her pet Carolina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine's honor can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
