He was predeceased by: his parents, William C Townsend, Sr. and Hilda Townsend (Horn); his wife Jeannette Townsend; and his former wife Carol Elaine Kremer Townsend. He is survived by: his children, William C. III Townsend (Christi) of Beaver Falls and Renee Swecker (Robert) of Overland Park, Kansas; his grandchildren, Drew Swecker of Lisbon, Ohio, Tara Swecker of Lenexa, Kansas, William D. Townsend (Kinsey) of Orlando, Florida, Daniel Townsend of Sewickley and Margaret Townsend of Beaver Falls; and his siblings, Robert Townsend, Sharon Peterson, Connie Warmouth and Carol Walker.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Reformed Presbyterian Home, 2344 Perrysville Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214.
