He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Smith and Helen Louise Smith (Frona); his wife Virginia Linger; and his sister Helen Gregory. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Linger (Janet) and William Linger Jr. (Janet). He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews.
