Ellen leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ellen’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Ellen will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Knouse and Bertha Knouse (Roberts); her husband James S. Matthews; and her sisters, Mary L. Hess and Pauline Hartman.
She is survived by: her sons, James A. Matthews (Cindy) of Benton and Ernest L. Matthews (Rose) of Allegan, Michigan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc. (4394 Red Rock Rd, Benton, PA 17814). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
