He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ryan and Helen Ryan (Wildsmith); his son Christian Harrison Ryan; and his brothers, Robert and William Ryan.
He is survived by: his wife Bette Ryan (Harrison); his sisters-in-law, Judy Ryan, Ellen Ryan and Sarah H. "Sally" Szabo (Robert Szabo); and his grandchildren, Minh and Nahn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
