He was predeceased by : his parents, George G. Embree and Marie Embree (Kelley); his wife Mary Jo Embree (Toy); his son James Embree; his sisters, Ethel Walters and Betty; and his brother-in-law Joe Walters.

He is survived by : his sons, Kelley G. Embree (Barbara) and Stephen C. Embree (Shelly); his nieces, Judy Shannon and Kathleen Helton; and his caregiver Tammy Huray. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
