With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jean Kessler of Berwick, Pennsylvania, who passed away on May 16, 2026 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Strickland and Anna Strickland Hess (Davenport); her former husbands, Earl P. "Curly" Welsh and Charles E. Wolfe, Jr.; her son David Welsh; and her siblings, Warren Strickland, Ralph Strickland, Albert Hess, Ross Hess and Fern Bess Honeywell.
She is survived by: her husband Gayle Kessler; and her children, Mark Welsh of McAdoo, Chris Welsh (Michele) of Berwick, Charles Wolfe, III of Pine Grove, Sharon Jones of Nescopeck Township, Lori Vargo of Harrisburg, Lynn Welsh of Mandeville, LA, Michelle Deeter (Ronald) of Bloomsburg and Holly Gillis (Matt) of Bloomsburg. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22nd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc. (110 Chestnut St, Berwick, PA 18603). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
The family suggests donations can be made in Jean's memory to Crosspoint Bible Church, 1426 Spring Garden Avenue, Berwick, PA 18603.
