Beverly Rowan wrote a sympathy message

“My sympathies to Ray’s family. Thoughts of him always make me smile. One of the many times he helped my mom (put down her wall to wall carpet and linoleum) I learned more interesting facts in one day than I think I learned over years of schooling, and more “information” about friends and relations to which I kept saying “really?” and he would say “oh yeah”. Any time I picked him up he always asked about my family and mutual friends. A gentle giant indeed. I am very blessed he touched my life.”

Cathy Condello wrote a sympathy message

“Our kids loved Ray. He made them “Indian coup sticks” with beads and animal fur. We still have them 30 years later. One time Tony and the boys saw Ray walking in Bethel. They picked him up and took him to the movies with them. While sitting in the theater, he reached in his bag to get a snack — and pulled out a dead squirrel he found on the tracks. He became one of their childhood heroes that day and they still talk about it. He was also very good to Rose. Cathy Condello”

Cheryl Nedzesky wrote a sympathy message

“A gentle giant. The patch carpet man. Boots, my mom, would worry if she didn't find him sleeping outside. He would rest there on his way home from the t stop before climbing 4th street. The t drivers all knew him, he was always riding somewhere. My mom needed a large tree trimmed. Someone cut it in the middle of the night, it was Ray. A good neighbor and friend, sympathy to his family.”

“Ray was always helping my Mom, Mary Dare. He was always doing little odd jobs and was always there when my Mom needed him. I would always remember him going to the streetcar with his backpack on. So very sad and prayers for the family”

Karen Sutton wrote a sympathy message

“To Ray's Family: Someone gave our Mollenauer Peeps Facebook site Ray's number & asked that we call him. I spoke with him for about 20 minutes on the 5th. I was his "across the street" neighbor for many years in Mollenauer. It was great to talk to him and catch up after decades. Ray had a big heart. I fondly remember his kindness to my grandparents, John & Ann Trnosky and my parents, Chuck & Audrey Wasko. I offer my condolences to Judy and the rest of the family. Karen Wasko Sutton”
