She was predeceased by: her husband John C. Whitehead; her parents, Mazie Johnstone Black and William C. Ellis; her brother William C. Ellis, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Mary Beth Whitehead.
She is survived by: her sons, Walter (Melissa) of Covington, Louisiana, Robert (Nancy) of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania and David of South Riding, Virginia; her daughter-in-law Victoria Kleppinger Whitehead of Bethlehem; and her half-sister Ardis Vandenboss of Coldwater, Michigan. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
