He was predeceased by : his wife Althea M. Brey (Brown); his parents, Edward H. Brey and Edith Brey (Mertz); and his sister Elizabeth Ampietro. He is survived by : his brother Harry Brey; and his nephews, Nick Ampietro (Patty), Dan (Virginia), Scott Brey (Laurie) and Tione Kalafian (Mick).

Ben Johnson wrote a sympathy message

“Eddy was a guy who made everyone in a room feel as if they were welcomed. Every party I ever went to Ed was at, he went out of his way to give me a firm handshake and ask how I was doing. While he was a great uncle to my cousin Nic - we all felt as if he was our Uncle Eddy. Even up to 98 he was always full of life and excitement which he extended to all of us, especially my grandmother Jane. She loved sharing a friendship and her daily newspaper with him. May God bless His family”
