He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Paul Hixson, Sr. and Anna Mildred Singley; and his siblings, Pauline, Jane Frances and William.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Mae Ritter; his stepchildren, Jane Mazenko (Darrell) of Concord, CA, Joan McGinley (James) of Bethlehem, PA and Bernard Straubinger (Christine) of Orefield, PA; his stepgrandchildren, Shannon Neff, Erin Pietrulewicz, Jesse Hinkel, Tierney Straubinger, Conall McGinley and Sydney Swords; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Jaelah, Scarlett, Stella, Kharisse and Henry.
