He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Matthews and Dorothy Matthews; his siblings, Pat, Peg and Peter; and his former wife Marion I. Matthews.
He is survived by: his wife Rheta Matthews (Suhr); his son David Richard Matthews (Barbara); his grandchildren, Alex and Rebecca; his daughter Kristen Diane Siebenhuhner (Thomas); and his grandsons, Andrew and Matthew.
