Margaret Juliann Secosky Obituary

On Monday, May 12, 2025, Margaret J. (Harhai) Secosky, 91 years young, transitioned from this earth to her new eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loves very much. She was looking forward to seeing, being with and is now with her husband, mother, father, brothers, sisters, other relatives and all her friends who have made Jesus their Lord and Savior. Margaret's heart's desire was not only to see others come to know Jesus but that her entire family would, too, so they could be in heaven with her for eternity.

Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold, now is the time of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2. Margaret was born in Brinkerton, Pa on December 26, 1933, to Paul and Henrietta (Pawlyshyn) Harhai. She was raised with siblings Mary Beluschok, Ann Hritzko, Eva Gula, Mike Harhai, Natalie Hausele , Pearl Klaka, Andy Harhai, Stella Vella, Stephen (Chip) Harhai, and Pauline Hendrickson. At 13, Margaret met a handsome young man, Emery, nicknamed Blackie. Her mother told her she would marry him. Emery and Margaret married 4 years later and raised 5 children, Susan, Rick, Julie, Paulette and Emery.

Margaret was a hard-working stay-at-home mom for her family, doing the best she knew how. She enjoyed cooking and baking, often using recipes handed down from her family. Nothing was better than a home cooked meal from mom. Her homemade cinnamon rolls didn't last long right out of the oven. She never forgot her humble beginnings on the farm and stayed true to her country girl values. Margaret made and found time to be a caregiver to her father and mother-in-law in their later years, even though she had a family to raise.

Honor your mother and father, that your days may be long upon the land your God is giving you.. Exodus 20:12 Throughout the difficulties, hardships and challenges of life, especially during her late senior years, Margaret faced them with grace, wisdom and dignity, being a stellar example and inspiration to those closest to her. A few years after Blackie's retirement, they moved to Punxsutawney to live for over 25 years. They were married an astonishing 72 years, quite a rare feat in this day and age.

For their 70th anniversary, the Hometown Magazine featured them in a beautiful article to honor their achievement. They have only been separated for 3 years since Blackie's passing in 2022 but are now once again together in eternity. Surviving Margaret are her children, her sister Pauline Hendrickson of Pleasant Unity, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her beloved cats Peppi and Moses and yia yia to Julietta Rose, Zsa-Zsette and Kira Marie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Church of God, 23 Skyview Dr., Punxsy, Pa. 15767 or Wildbird Recovery, 120 Forsythe Rd., Valencia, Pa. 16059 In honoring Margaret's wishes, there will be no visitation.

Services are private. Cards of condolences may be sent to Shumaker Funeral Home, 115 E. Union St., Punxsutawney, Pa. 15767.
