She was predeceased by: her parents, Velva May Dougherty and John Tenuto; her husband Jon (G. Jonathan Moffitt Jr); and her siblings, Helen Browne (Joe), David McGinnis (Linda), Leonard McGinnis and George McGinnis.
She is survived by: her friend Skip-Bo; her grandchildren, Gideon, Claire, Colin, Vivian and Evie; her children, G. Jonathan Moffitt III (Kathryn Griep), Heather Moffitt (Kevin Reagan), Jennifer Mayer (Jared) and James Moffitt (Lindsay); her brothers, Michael McGinnis (Mickey), Jack McGinnis and John Tenuto; and her sister-in-law Helene McGinnis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made on Vel's behalf to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
